The gazette dates for the restrictive and prohibited burning times for the Shire of Coorow have been considered by Staff and relevant Fire Control Officers from the Coorow Brigade, Green Head Brigade, Leeman Brigade, Warradarge Brigade, and Chief Bush Fire Control Officer Kelvin Bean.

Prohibited burning periods

Coastal  (From coast to Mudge Willocks Road)

No burning from 1 November 2021 until 14 February 2022 (Inclusive)

District (remainder)

No burning from 15 October 2021 until 14 February 2021

All burning is prohibited during this period

Firebreaks - Bush Fires Act 1954 (as amended)

Following is an overview of your legal requirements under the Bush Fires Act 1954. As a measure to assist in the control of bushfires, or preventing the spread or extension of a bushfire, all landowners/occupiers of land within the Shire of Coorow must ensure they meet requirements under Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act.
Notice is hereby given to all landowners/occupiers within the Shire of Coorow that you are required on or before 31 October to plough, scarify, cultivate or otherwise clear a firebreak and thereafter maintain clear of all flammable material up to and including 29 March as per requirements in relation to Section 33 of the above.

All property owners/occupiers must comply with this notice from 31 October each year and maintain the compliance until 29 March the following year.
