Training 

The Shire of Coorow offers free training to all BFB volunteers, this ranges from basic firefighting skills to leadership and incident management.

The Midwest BFB training calendar is produced every year and can be found below along with a description of each course and outcomes.

The Shire of Coorow strongly recommends that BFB volunteers undertake basic firefighting training before undertaking any firefighting operations.


PPE & PPC

 all Shire of Coorow BFB volunteers are entitled to free PPC/PPE this is supplied by the Shire and remains the property of the Shire during your time as a volunteer. 

the standard issue of PPE/PPC includes 

1x BR9 wildland fire helmet with visor

1x Helmet mounted torch

1x wide-brim hat

1x googles 

1x safety glasses 

1x full or half-face respirator + filters 

2x BFB t-shirt

1x tunic 

1x Nomex cargo pants 

1x wildland boots 

1x socks 

1x set of gloves

1x kit bag 

1x belt + buckle
